John Alkins

John is a keyboard master from Olympia, Washington.  During the 1970's and '80's, he performed all over the Pacific Northwest, as well as in California and other states.  His ability to paint deeply emotional portraits through his compositions and stylings is amazing and inspirational.

He plays numerous instruments; his day-job has him conducting "music therapy" sessions for chiildren in need of a life focus.

I first met him when he was the music director for a long-gone (and sorely missed) restaurant called the "Gnu Deli" in downtown OlyWa, around 1979.   "Gnu Deli" served as a bridge between long-time residents and the students of The Evergreen State College (TESC).  There were some uncanny musical shows in those earlier days, in great part because of John's ability to entice "name" musicians to play in Olympia.

John has several solo albums released on our label; you can listen to full-song samples from "Continuum", "Sacred Wood" and "Piano Portraits" at our CATALOG page.   There are also several albums there that feature his work with other artists, like Rotcod Zzaj and Kramtones.
